The California Subminimum Wage to Competitive Integrated Employment Project

- A statewide effort to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) get real jobs for real pay in their communities.
- The CSP combines education, employment, and family supports into one coordinated system.

Ending outdated practices, like paying people with disabilities less than minimum wage, promotes fairness. CSP supports California’s goal under SB 639 to end subminimum wage jobs by January 1, 2025.

- Family Resource Center partners connect participants and families with support Assistive technology like screen readers, video magnifiers, and speech apps aid success
Proven Results, Growing Impact
- Already Serving: Over 160 individuals enrolled in two regions
- Successes include students pursuing higher education, getting competitive jobs, and gaining self-confidence through community engagement.

- Adults aged 18 and older
- Individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD) who were in subminimum wage jobs or at risk of such employment
- Must be a client of the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR); CSP staff can assist with enrollment.

CSP participants can access inclusive, college-based education. This helps them develop academic, personal, and job skills.
Employment-focused Curriculum
CSP provides courses that focus on career exploration and skill building for the workplace.
1:1 Employment Services
Each CSP participant gets tailored employment services to fit their unique goals and abilities.
Peer Mentorship Opportunities
Participants don’t have to go it alone—CSP Peer Mentors are here to help.
Customized Employment Services
Many CSP participants benefit from traditional job development. However, Customized Employment is for individuals with significant barriers to job searching.

Family Support Services
