Meet Natacia, a Vocational Specialist for CSP!

Natacia is a CSP Vocational Specialist for the Career Support Pathways (CSP) program in the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) where she provides vocational services including Customized Employment (CE). She holds an MS Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and has 15 years of experience working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Community College workforce programs, and Disability Support Program Services (DSPS) counseling. She previously managed the SDCCD College 2 Career (C2C) program before transitioning to a part time adjunct role and gaining academic experience. She was excited to rejoin the SDCCD DSPS team to help launch CSP in January 2024 and has enjoyed the opportunity to become certified in delivering CE and begin working with several students with their employment goal.

Natacia quote - "Customized Employment is a unique approach to job placement that allows for the space and time students need to develop a deeper understanding of their job goals. As a career counselor, you get to think creatively and use different strategies to create new opportunities and mutually beneficial relationships with local business owners. I've truly enjoyed getting to know Ashley, her family, and the local community.  We approached a well-known bakery that I had a connection with and were able to get her an on-call shift during the holidays. She was so proud of learning new skills and earning her own money!" Ashley quote - “I like working with Natacia because I get to learn new things and it’s fun. I got to try out a job at a bakery and helped cutting strawberries.”

Pictured here is Natacia with her CSP participant/student, Ashley Vieyra holding the money she earned from working at a bakery work experience - she was very proud! Natacia is working with Ashley through a process called Customized Employment (CE).
